Plaza de Santa Ana

Madrid’s Vibrant Heart, Where History Meets Tapas

Hey travelers! Heard of Madrid’s Plaza de Santa Ana? If not, get ready to have your mind (and taste buds) blown! This ain’t your average square; it’s a buzzing hub of history, culture, and some seriously delicious eats.

Ever wandered around Madrid and stumbled upon a square so charming it makes your heart skip a beat? That’s Plaza de Santa Ana for you. Forget boring squares with pigeons (although there might be a few!), this place is buzzing with life, history, and some seriously tasty food.

Forget dusty squares with pigeons (though there might be a few cheeky ones! ), this place is buzzing with energy. Locals and tourists mingle around, chatting, laughing, and soaking up the atmosphere. There are cozy cafes with sunny terraces practically begging you to sit outside, and the air is filled with the sweet scent of orange trees in bloom. Welcome to your new favorite spot in Madrid!

⁤But Plaza Santa Ana isn’t just about good looks and good vibes (though it has plenty of both!). ⁤⁤This square is steeped in rich history. ⁤⁤Famous writers like Cervantes used to hang out here centuries ago, and their statues still stand guard, keeping an eye on the lively scene. ⁤⁤Pretty cool, huh?

Tapas and bars

Cervecería Alemana: This bar has more than 100 years of history, don’t let him fool you by his name, you will find the finest Spanish tapas around. Personally is my favorite on the square. They have a wide selection of beers on tap.

Lateral Santa Ana: This restaurant offers a more modern take on traditional Spanish cuisine, with a focus on seasonal ingredients. They also have a nice bar area where you can enjoy a drink and some tapas.

If you want to have some more than tapas, there is a restaurant call Ginger where you will find the combination bwtween the spanish dishes and a more international cuisine. Another thing that I love about this restaurant is how is decorated.

Things to Do Nearby

Teatro Español: This 17th-century theater is one of the most important theaters in Spain. It has hosted performances by some of the country’s most famous playwrights, including Lope de Vega and Calderón de la Barca.

Casa Museo Lope de Vega: This museum is dedicated to the life and work of Spanish playwright Lope de Vega. It is located in the house where he lived from 1605 to 1610.

Church of San Sebastián: This 17th-century church is known for its beautiful Baroque architecture.

If you are tired of walking you can use Madrid public bicycle renting service or take a Tuk Tuk
