Nature and fun in the middle of Madrid

Retiro’s park is the biggest park that you will find in Madrid center, there is another park outside Madrid call La casa de campo pace at the west side of Madrid. Retiro’s park is close to the Puerta de Alcala and behind the Prado museum.

Is the right place if you want to take a quite walk, running, do a picnic, enjoy a muppets show with your children, listen to live music or just get out of the noise and crowd of Madrid.

To simplify you visit, you will find here after the Retiro’s park map.

In the middle of the park you will find a lake where you will be able to rent a boat and spend a little bit of time rowing.

Near the lake you will find the glass palace because the iron structure is entirely cover with glasses leaving all the light go through, it was built on 1887, the same year that stated the construction of the Eiffel tower. In front of the palace there is a small pond.

In case you get hungry with all this nature surrounding you, there are a lots of bars with terrace where you can have a drink and eat some “tortilla de patatas” (spanish omelette), otherwise, you will find kiosk with cold drinks, water, ice creams and things like that.

There is a lot of people that get together to do outdoor activities like running, yoga, Zumba, Pilates, etc.

You can also rent bicycles, tamdems, skates, bicycles quads to run around the park here after you have a couple of site Biciretiro and Diverbikes (both in spanish, sorry for that), or maybe you can rent the bicycle outside the Retiro’s on Madrid public service bicycle rent (here you will find the dedicated post).
